Adam Dierselhuis   Director   

Adam grew up working in his family’s service station – the old style station where you got fuel in the tank, your windscreen washed and your tyres checked all while you were sitting in your car. It was here that he found his passion for business, and just like any other business owner / operator, his dislike of tax.

That passion and energy for helping business owners create better businesses and minimising the amount of tax they pay resulted in Adam’s decision to study a Bachelor of Business at university and pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant. Adam has a talent for spotting opportunities and enjoys challenging the status quo to get the best results for his clients.

More recently, Adam has had the enriching experience of being the Queensland Regional Council Chair for the Institute of Chartered Accountants (now Chartered Accountants – Australia & New Zealand), leading the council in a series of regional tours around Queensland and driving actions on behalf of members. Adam is passionate about giving back to the community in endeavours such as this, as well as presenting back to lectures in universities and being involved in The Executive Connection (TEC) and other business forums.

Scott Barber Associate Director


Scott has spent the last 5 years helping professional service organisations to utilise technology to its full potential. Scott graduated from the University of Queensland with a Bachelor of Engineering (Computer Systems) and Commerce (Finance), and is passionate about helping businesses to make measurable improvements in performance through the smarter application of technology.

Scott enjoys challenging traditional business processes and implementing systems that help business owners to add value to their operations and do smarter business.

Scott’s focus is on building deep relationships with his clients, learning about their business and how they work so that he can provide truly valuable solutions. 


Melissa Voss Associate Director 


With a diversity of skills attained throughout her studies in a Bachelor of Business, and as a Chartered Accountant, Melissa has been able to focus on many facets of our business – from client service, to system improvements, strategic planning, human resource management and talent development.  

Melissa’s enthusiasm is contagious as she is extremely passionate about continuing to develop our strong culture and team environment – helping team members be the best they can be, so that we can deliver the best level of service to our clients. She is always looking for opportunities to work smarter not harder, and is always more than happy to share experiences and learnings through Human Resource and Practice Management groups she is a member of.

Rod has over thirty years experience sharing his innovative, forward-thinking and proactive taxation and management advice with clients. Rod’s clients are family-owned businesses, particularly professional service firms and primary production groups.

A farmer himself, Rod works closely with clients in primary production industries, helping them to structure and plan their businesses to best suit their families and long-term goals.  

Angela Chen Client Manager, SMSF Specialist 


Angela’s first experience in working with small family businesses started with assisting her mum with bookkeeping at the age of 15. Getting an insight into the business contributed to Angela’s desire to work with and assist other small business owners in setting and achieving their goals.

Angela specialises in Self-Managed Superannuation Funds and enjoys providing advice to clients to assist them in building up their retirement savings in a tax-effective manner.

Steven Kassulke Client Manager


Steve’s passion for business started during high school, in business management and accounting subjects where he created business plans and marketing strategies. Ever since this moment he has been interested in businesses and what makes them tick.

Steve looks forward to working with clients and helping them achieve their goals and solve their problems. He is particularly interested in process improvement, trying to deliver desired outcomes in the most efficient and simplest way, through improved procedures and easy to understand communication skills.

Chris Osborne Client Manager, FBT Specialist


Chris enjoys working with clients to achieve their goals and objectives. Chris has particular interests in tax minimisation, budgeting, retirement planning, superannuation, planning today for the future, regular reviews of client’s plans to ensure we are working towards achieving their goals, and working with clients as their goals and objectives change.

Jessica Chesney Client Manager


Jess graduated from QUT with a Bachelor of Business majoring in Professional Accounting. She entered as an adviser at O’Connells OBM after completing the summer vacation experience program where she grew to understand that there’s no way to avoid tax but that there are ways to manage a business tax-effectively!

Marie Olesen Client Manager


Marie completed a Commerce degree at UQ majoring in Accounting and Finance. After trying her hand at research and completing summer work experience at another firm she decided to pursue a career as a Chartered Accountant, joining the team in January 2011. Marie’s favourite aspects of her job at O’Connells are problem solving for clients and working with a great team of talented individuals.

Blair Speakman Senior Adviser


Blair has a passion for working with small and medium businesses. In particular, he has an interest in understanding how his clients operate their businesses and what their goals are. In his role as a business adviser he enjoys helping his clients to find balance between their personal and business lives. 

He has a focus on having conversations with business owners about where you are NOW, WHERE you want to be and then helping you to develop the strategies and actions as to HOW you will get there.

More recently, Blair has launched a start-up microbrewery with four friends – Eleven Hawks Craft Brewing. By putting himself in his “client’s shoes” and starting a new business, Blair expects to learn many valuable lessons and be better equipped to advise his clients on growing their businesses.

Hilary Do Senior Adviser


Hilary’s interest in business began in high school while studying accounting and business communications where she learnt that while numbers are important, client relationships are just as important. In her last year of high school, she completed an accounting subject at QUT in addition to her high school subjects. It was this accounting subject that confirmed her passion for business and helping clients achieve their goals.

Olivia Fischer Senior Adviser


Olivia first took an interest in accounting and business during early high school and this passion has grown through her university degree. Having worked for a year in the support team and experienced life in an accounting firm, Olivia has now started as an Adviser at O’Connells OBM and is learning more about the drivers of successful business then she ever learnt in a classroom!

Nicola McMahon Assistant Adviser


Nicola is currently completing a commerce degree majoring in accounting at the University of Queensland, supporting our client managers and advisers part-time ahead of her graduation at the end of 2017. Nicola will join our team full-time as a Graduate Accountant in 2018 and is excited by the opportunity to develop strong client relationships.

Bec Kerr Client Service Administrator

Bec recently relocated to Brisbane from FNQ and joins the O’Connells OBM team as our new dedicated Client Service Administrator. Rebecca is excited to build new relationships with you and is on hand to help you liaise with the Tax Office and Australian Securities and Investments Commission, check your Tax Account balances or locate reports and information you might need to supply to third parties such as banks.

Trudi joined O’Connells OBM while studying at the University of Queensland. With degrees in journalism and economics, Trudi is passionate about telling stories that matter. Trudi pulls information from all areas of our business to share valuable and insightful information with our community. She has a keen interest in employee engagement and helping clients to create connected cultures.
